Please note that the player:coach ratio at my camps is never more than 6:1, we enjoy getting "into the weeds" with our instruction and correction. Programs are limited to 30 players. Time on ice is a bit longer than a Town Skills session and we focus on 50 minutes of Power Skating and then 20-30 minutes of Stickhandling and Passing with Movement, tying in Edge Work to Stickhandling and Passing. More information below.

Skating is the most important Skill in the game of hockey. Driscoll Skating & Skills is wholly focused on making every player that we work with a better skater. I hope you will agree that we prove this every time that we step on the ice. Our partnership this season with Brookline Youth Hockey is demonstrating that players of all ages and abilities benefit greatly from our approach. We do not underestimate the willingness and ability of players of all ages and abilities to improve their skating meaningfully and we look forward to working with families that share our view.

The Driscoll Skating & Skills approach to Power Skating is simple. We create a positive, hockey-rich environment with a primary goal of teaching Power Skating. Our "pace of play is deliberate" designed to educate the players and demand proper execution before moving on with the curriculum. We follow a teaching blueprint: i) explanation of the drill; ii) demonstration of the drill by an instructor; iii) player performs drill; iv) correction of player at individual level v) repeat until satisfactory progress is made and vi) move on to the following progression of the drill. We are always working towards execution of Power Skating movements at top speed. Extremely hands-on approach that values proper explanation and demonstration.

We have designed a progressive curriculum of drills that breaks down each Power Skating movement into its smaller individual components. The drills are accompanied by teaching and instruction that is also progressive, i.e., we tackle the basics of each drill first and then move towards mastery of each drill.

At least 25% of the time on ice will be spent with pucks with a heavy emphasis on Stickhandling and Passing with Movement and helping the players handle the puck smoothly. There will be a focus on helping the players understand the importance of coordinating their lower body movement (Edge Work) with their upper body movement (Stickhandling and Passing).

The videos below show NHL players at the highest level; at full speed; and executing the exact skating maneuvers that we break down to their most simple drills and add progressions.
