Girls Hockey

2024-2025 REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!

Medfield Youth Hockey (MYH) provides girls of varying ages and abilities the opportunity to learn and develop skills to play competitive hockey, with an emphasis on teamwork and fun.

The 2024-2025 season will offer a standard Girls U8 Team with a full ~15 game season in the Allston-Brighton League, with 1-2 weekly practices and biweekly skills sessions.

The program will also offer a standard Girls U10 Team with a typical ~25 game season, with 1-2 practices per week and biweekly skills sessions.

Ages

For the 2024-2025 season, team levels are determined by birth years as follows (exceptions are allowed):

  • U8 Team: DOBs 2016-2018
  • U10 Team: DOBs 2014-2015


When

  • U8 practices/skills begin in September, with games played November to March
  • U10 practices/skills will begin in early September and games will be played September to late March

Where

  • U8 and U10 practices/skills are held at Norfolk Ice Arena and Blackstone Valley IcePlex in Hopedale
  • U8 games are typically played at Reilly Memorial Rink in Brighton
  • U10 game locations will be determined by the Middlesex Yankee Conference Girls League


Practices

  • U8 & U10 practices are typically held 1-2 times a week, in addition to biweekly skills sessions

Games

  • U8 games are typically held on Saturday mornings between 9-11am
  • U10 games are held at various times on the weekends

Jerseys

Game jerseys are required for both the U8 and U10 teams. Information on jersey fitting dates and the ordering deadline will be shared soon.

What is the format of the Girls Teams?

U8 Team:

  • One team of approximately 11 players
  • Games are played in a 4v4 cross-ice format, plus a goalie
  • All skill levels welcome, tuition discount provided to full-time goalies

U10 Team:

  • One team of approximately 13 players 
  • Games are played in a 5v5 full ice format, plus a goalie
  • All skill levels welcome, tuition discount provided to full-time goalies


Are there tryouts?

No, there are no tryouts or team placements for either team, just the required USA Hockey and MYH registration, plus registration cost



What is the tuition cost?

  • U8 Team: $1,500
  • Tuition can be paid in full or in installments as follows:
  • Season Deposit due at time of registration: $200
  • May 1: $325
  • June 1: $325
  • July 1: $325
  • August 1: $325
  • For families with more than one player or a player on more than one MYH team, a $250 discount is available at registration ($1,250 total)
  • U10 Team: $1,950
  • Tuition can be paid in full or in installments as follows:
  • Season Deposit due at time of registration: $250
  • May 1: $425
  • June 1: $425
  • July 1: $425
  • August 1: $425
  • For families with more than one player or a player on more than one MYH team, a $250 discount is available at registration ($1,700 total)
  • U8 or U10 Full-Time Goalies: $250 total, due at time of registration


Can players from other towns join the teams?

Yes! All Medfield Youth Hockey teams welcome players from our neighboring towns!


Are there any other Girls Hockey events?

Yes, the 'Medfield Girls Stick Together' program offers fun one-time events such as hockey clinics and game watches with the Medfield High School Girls Varsity and/or Middle School Girls Hockey players and coaches, and is open to all levels of girls hockey players, ages 5-12. Additional fees may apply.
